The Lake-Nakuru National Park-Kenya
Lake Nakuru is renowned for its large flocks of flamingoes that paint it a gentle pink visible from miles away. The flamingoes here are in flocks numbering in the hundreds of thousands. The lake is also home to over 400 other bird species, making it a paradise for birdwatchers. Other animals that can be seen in the park include lions, leopards, rhinos, giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, and various antelopes.
The park also has several well-maintained trails, including a scenic hike up to the Baboon Cliff, which offers stunning views of the lake and surrounding area. The professional tour operators at Sumpton Safari Adventures will be keen to take you to all these wonderful spots during your stay at the park.
The Masai Mara-Kenya
The Masai Mara is the ultimate dream safari. And in our blog post; A safari to the Masai Mara, we give you a detailed description of what you can expect on this trip. While doing a combined Kenya-Tanzania Safari you will get to enjoy this marvelous game reserve and interact with the big five up close. Sunrises and sunsets in this savannah grassland are simply breathtaking and truly worthy of your time.
The Serengeti National Park-Tanzania
Adjacent to the Masai Mara of Kenya; the Serengeti and the Mara form a single ecosystem. This UNESCO World Heritage Site sits on an expansive 14,763 square kilometers and is the origin of the Great Migration. This migration is one of the most impressive wildlife events that takes place in the Serengeti.
Every year, over a million wildebeest, along with hundreds of thousands of zebras and gazelles, travel in a circular route through the Serengeti to the neighboring Maasai Mara in Kenya in search of fresh grazing and water. This natural phenomenon has been taking place for thousands of years and is one of the largest land-animal migrations in the world.
The Serengeti is also home to the largest population of lions in Africa. A breathtaking wonder.
Ngorongoro- Tanzania
This park is named after the Ngorongoro Crater, which is the world’s largest inactive, intact, and unfilled volcanic caldera, formed two to three million years ago. It measures 19km in diameter and 600 meters in depth. The Ngorongoro Conservation Area is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site, recognized for its exceptional natural beauty. It is equally honored for the significant role it plays in preserving wildlife and the traditional lifestyle of the Maasai people who live in the area.
Ngorongoro is also home to the Olduvai Gorge, an important archaeological site credited for its crucial role in the study of humankind. The gorge is a steep-sided ravine, about 50 kilometers long. It is particularly important because it contains evidence of early human habitation dating back over 3 million years. The remains of hominids in Olduvai, as well as the tools they used to survive, helped scientists to understand human origins. They were critical in establishing Africa as the cradle of mankind, and the place where human evolution began.
A trip to Ngorongoro is full of wonder and magic that could only be likened to a return to the source. It is a truly surreal experience that we wish for all our clients.
The Kenya-Tanzania safari is an adventurer’s dream. In addition to the safaris discussed above, we also take our clients to Tarangire-Tanzania and then complete the safari at Kenya’s Amboseli National Park, the homeland of the African Elephant. Kindly note that you will need to acquire travel visas for both countries. Members of the East African community are however exempted from this requirement.
We look forward to taking you on this magical safari. Call us today.
