4 Days Serengeti Wildebeest Migration

One of the most spectacular events in the natural environment is the annual wildebeest migration. Between July and September, millions of wildebeest migrate over the Masai Mara-Serengeti region, joined by other wildlife like impalas, zebra, Thompson’s gazelle, and Grant’s gazelle.

The crossing of the Mara River is often seen as the high point of the trek. The annual wildebeest migration is something to look forward to; experience the herds of animals rushing to cross a crocodile-infested river as lions, cheetahs, and leopards lurk in the surrounding area in their hunt for prey. It would be a memorable highlight of your life if you chose to do this.

Tanzania is one of the greatest locations to go in East Africa to see wild animals, especially during February and March, when the wildebeest calving time is in high gear, and between July and October, when the wildebeest Mara River crossing is in full force. These two periods are universally considered prime viewing opportunities for the animal world.

DETAILED ITINERARY

Day 1: Arusha To Serengeti National Park

Following an early morning meal, a Sumpton Safari guide will pick you up from your Arusha hotel and take you to Serengeti National Park, stopping at lovely spots to snap photographs and enjoy your Tanzania Classic trip. We will provide you with a tasty lunch on the road so we can make it to Serengeti National Park in time for afternoon game sightings, as the journey from Arusha to the park takes around six hours.

You will be warmly welcomed to the lodge where you will be staying. You will then enjoy an adventurous game drive in the park. The Serengeti National Park is home to hundreds of wild animals.

Day 2: Full Day in Serengeti National Park

On this particular day, your classic tour will start after breakfast. You will have an opportunity to see hundreds of thousands of elands, zebras, Thomson's gazelles, and Topis among the millions of wildebeest in the park.

You will go off on a Serengeti migration tour, during which you will visit different regions of the park at different times to see the animals in their natural environments. You will check back into the lodge for the night after supper.

Day 3: Morning in Serengeti National Park. Afternoon Drive to Ngorongoro

You will have breakfast early at your lodge before setting out for the day's adventure. You will have a picnic lunch at midday before embarking on the magnificent wildlife sightings.

The area around the Grumeti River is perfect for seeing the huge wildebeest migration. You will witness herds of migratory animals grazing along the Grumeti River and eventually try to cross it. You'll explore locations along the Grumeti River and drive to the Ngorongoro crater to stay there overnight.

Day 4: Morning In Ngorongoro Crater. Afternoon Drive Back to Arusha

After an early breakfast at your lodge, you will depart for the crater rim and an up-close encounter with the living creatures there, including the big five. After an afternoon of adventure, you will make your way back to Arusha. As an additional option, the tour can be tailored to your liking, and you can make the trip memorable by flying back to Arusha.
